My name is Carl E. McClellan, aka MrTieDye, I have been creating tie-dye clothes and tapestries for ten years. In the last five years I have helped thousands of students, either in school or through a home party, create thier own shirt. This is a fun way to let children be creative and wear thier work of art. With a little instruction, there is no failure.

For school events I mix the primary colors of dye and teach color mixing right on the shirts, making this an art lesson for the students. The dyes I use are professional fiber-reactive dyes, so the colors will stay bright for years. I mix dyes in squeeze bottles so this event is much cleaner than the old dunk in a bucket method.
I drop prices for Schools, making it easier for Teachers to have me come in to share my art with their students. I will provide all of the T-shirts, supplies,(including non-latex gloves), and dyes. I typically work with groups of 12 to 25 (one class) at a time depending on age, and can do 2-3 groups per day. I ask the teachers to have 2 - 4 parent volunteers on hand to help with this project, depending on age of students. Also I will need a space to work (non-carpeted preferred), and 4 to 5 tables which I will cover with plastic.

The cost per shirt for total groups of students, teachers and helpers:
15 to 49 $13.00 for youth size T-shirts 50 to 99 $12.00 for youth size T-shirts 100 or more $10.00 for youth size T-shirts
$16.00 for Adult sizes through X-Large
$15.00 for Adult sizes through X-Large
$13.00 for adult sizes through X-Large
I will come in and work with 2-3 classes per day until all students have created a shirt. I start out by showing some sample designs and then I demonstrate how to tie and dye each of the patterns, and mix secondary colors from the primary colors. Next the students will put on gloves and start tying and dyeing shirts in their choice of pattern and colors.

If the teachers or a parent group does the washing of T-shirts after they are dyed, I will drop $2.00 off the cost of each shirt. I will provide the special soap and washing instructions.

Once we start planning this event, I will need a list of names and shirt sizes of each student, teacher and helper making a shirt so I can prepare the shirts before the event. The list should have the students broken into the groups I will be working with. I have sample shirts I can bring to your school to make sure the correct size is chosen for each person. If you are doing more than one classroom, I will ask for a 25% deposit.
